Vortex Drop Shaft

	A vortex drop shaft will be used to drop or lower flood waters from the diversion channel to the tunnel under Route 83. Energy will be dissipated in the drop shaft as the stormwater vortexes a depth of 80 feet down the shaft.
Air will be released through the core or the center of the shaft This will allow water to flow more freely and efficiently through the tunnel into the quarry.
